Teen canceled a party after 200,000 RSVP on Facebook!

An Australian teen who had to shut down an event page on Facebook after more than 200,000 people RSVPed for her sweet 16 party now has more than 70,000 people who have signed up to attend her new party.

The girl named Jess called police Monday to say her Facebook account had been hijacked after thousands said they’d attend her birthday party in Chatswood in New South Wales on March 26.

Jess had originally intended to invite the students in her grade, but told her guests that they could bring friends since she didn’t have time to invite everyone. She encouraged others to invite friends on her behalf saying that it was an “open house party as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.” The invitation, which went viral, had her address on it.

A number of the postings on the invitation’s wall used the Anonymous symbol in them, which is cause to think the group might have a role in the invitation going viral worldwide. A 17-year-old boy was charged today for hijacking the invitation, but there is no clear answer as to who’s responsible.
